The primary purpose of this diet is to shrink your liver prior to surgery by depleting stored glycogen. This ensures a safer, smoother procedure.

Essential guidelines to follow during your Pre-Op phase.
Drink at least 2-3 protein shakes per day to maintain muscle mass.
Eat raw and cooked vegetables—as many as you want!
Avoid peas, corn, potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, cereals, popcorn, and sugar sauces.
Eat at least 2 servings (4oz each) of lean protein: chicken, turkey, fish, lean beef, eggs, or tofu.
Add 1/2 cup of frozen berries or strawberries to your protein shake.
Add unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk or 2% milk to your shake.
Add chia seeds, almonds, nuts, or psyllium husk to help you stay full.
Drink at least 50-60 ounces of water daily. Avoid sugar-added drinks.
Strictly avoid carbonated drinks (soda, sparkling water, beer) and caffeine (coffee, black tea).
2 eggs + veggies + 1 tsp oil

4oz lean meat + veggies + 1 tsp oil / avocado slice

4oz lean meat + salad + 1 tbsp dressing
Raw vegetables
20-30 grams of protein per shake.
Isolated whey is highly recommended for best absorption.

Start CLEAR LIQUID DIET + Greek Yogurt
Add two greek yogurts per day (flavored ok, no fruit pieces). This helps with post-healing.
Strict NPO (Nothing by mouth)
Absolutely nothing to drink or eat after midnight preceding surgery or 8 hours prior to your surgery.
Start chewing ice chips (do not swallow the ice) to decrease nausea. Walk to decrease gas pain.
After the leak test, start phase I. Drink 1-2 oz per hour till tolerance. Avoid straws and chewing gum.
Common 3-6 months after surgery due to hypocaloric diet. Ensure you are getting:
